Chinese Artist Ai Weiwei Detained

Chinese artist Ai Weiwei was blocked from taking a flight to Hong Kong and was detained by police on Sunday. Police later raided his Beijing studio and his home. It’s not the first time the outspoken government critic has been prevented from leaving the country. It follows a massive crackdown on dissent since February following unrest in the Middle East and North Africa. The police have refused to explain why Ai was detained.
