On Monday, North Korean premier Choe Yong-rim met with his Chinese counterpart, Wen Jiabao, in Beijing. After a short ceremony, the two leaders held talks believed to revolve around the six-party denuclearization talks.
The six parties are North and South Korea, China, the US, Russia and Japan. The agreement is basically aid for the North in exchange for it to give up its nuclear ambitions.
Choe also met with Chinese leader Hu Jintao on Tuesday. As North Korea’s main political and economic ally, China is eager to relieve tensions between the communist state and its southern neighbor.
