Two men were arrested in Changsha, in China’s Hunan Province on Sunday for a video clip they posted to their microblog. The two 20-year-olds posted a clip showing what they claim were 5000 police officers escorting a wedding convoy down the streets of Changsha on December 6th. Local officials denied the claim and say the large group of officers was returning from training exercises instead. The two men have been charged with spreading false rumors. It has been reported they will be detained for five days. Critics say their detention is part of the Chinese regime’s effort to control the spread of information on the Internet. They say “rumors” is a code word for information the regime deems too sensitive for the public.
