Two Tibetan monks set themselves on fire in China's Sichuan province at around 2:20pm on Thursday. They were later reported to have died. Sonam Kyap and Choephak Kyap were both in their mid-20s.

According to the BBC, 34 Tibetans, including these two, have self-immolated in the past year. For the most part, they have been protesting the Chinese regime's treatment of Tibetan people and Tibetan culture.

Two Tibetan exile groups in Dharamsala in Northern India organized a candle night parade at 6pm Thursday. Several hundred monks and others participated in the event, mourning and appealing for international help.
