Unusually heavy snow hit northwest China over the weekend in Gansu Province.
The snow started falling in Hezuo County on Saturday, and came down heavily around 8:30 Sunday morning. It lasted a couple of hours before weakening.
Visibility was about eleven yards, slowing down traffic. The snow stopped around noon on Sunday.
The local meteorological department predicts more thundershowers in the following days.
According to an ancient Chinese saying, snow in early summer is a sign of much grievance. Many Chinese people are shocked by the snow. Comments online say that the snow at this time is a hint of disasters or reveals injustice in society.
