Since 2001, Chinese authorities have expanded their brutal persecution of the Falun Gong spiritual practice to Russian soil. In particular, two treaties signed in 2001 have pushed Russian authorities to illegally deport Falun Gong refugees back to China, ban Falun Gong books, and expand Russia's secret police force.

The timeline below looks at more than 40 instances where Russian authorities, under pressure from communist China, have illegally infringed on the freedoms of Russian citizens who practice Falun Gong.

It also covers how current and former Chinese leaders, including Bo Xilai, Jiang Zemin, Hu Jintao, and others, signed lucrative trade deals with Russia.
