The self-immolation of a Tibetan nomad marks three Tibetans who have protested against Chinese regime rule by setting themselves on fire this week.

Jopa, a 24-year-old Tibetan nomad, set himself alight on Friday in the township of Meruma in Aba county in the southwest province of Sichuan, according to rights group Free Tibet. Jopa is believed to be severely injured and might not survive.

Chinese authorities deployed security to the town shortly after the incident.

Free Tibet reported earlier this week that 26-year-old Dolkar Kyi, a mother of two young children, died after setting herself on fire outside Tso Monastery on Tuesday.

50 Tibetans have set themselves on fire over the past three years. The Chinese regime has described the acts as barbaric and terroristic. Tibetans say their culture and religion have been heavily oppressed under communist rule.
