Actor Russell Crowe and his wife Danielle Spencer have separated after nine years, according to the Sydney Morning Herald.

The two, who met over 20 years ago, have two children together.

Some blame Crowe's work schedule on the separation; it is one of the actor's busiest years, with seven of his films slotted to be released next year.

The relationship has also faced rumors after Danielle Spencer was spotted out with her Australian Dancing with the Stars partner Damian Whitwood. However, it is still a surprise, as the relationship had been consider one of the steadier ones in Australian showbusiness.

It is reported that the split is amicable.
