Fire Rages Through Market in Northern India

Property losses are mounting as a fire continues to burn in a multi-story market in Allahabad City’s clock tower market.

Locals say firefighters took a long time to arrive.

"The building caught fire last night… and even after informing the police and fire authority, they came two hours later. The fire is getting worse due to negligence and the building can fall down any time. People are terrified and coming out of their homes."

People were evacuated from their homes near the site, amid fears of the fire spreading.

The market was known for its furnishing goods.
