Floodwaters brought on by heavy rains cut off roads, isolating around 2,000 people around the town of Moree, Australia on Sunday.
Residents used sandbags in an attempt to stop the rising waters, which have already covered streets and inundated houses in the northwest part of New South Wales.
State Emergency Services say some people are running out of food and other supplies.
The local weather bureau predicted that the water would peak on Sunday night, after which the floods were expected to affect other towns downstream.
Authorities warned that towns in the area could be cut off for up to a week.
