Sweden's Crown Princess Victoria Gets Her Prince

Many people welcomed the royal Couple on their wedding day in Stockholm. Some of them arrived early to secure a nice spot.

[Visitor, Royal Wedding]:
“Pasta salad and we have something to drink and candies, fruits, everything. We have four hours left until they arrive.”

People downtown watched the royal wedding on large TV screens. When Crown princess Victoria and Mr. Daniel Westling said YES to each other in the Great Church, people outside showed enthusiastic acclaim.

[Sara, visitor, Sweden]:
“It’s just like a fairytale. You know every girl wants to hook up with a prince and now it is actually really happening, but the other way around.”

Crown Princess Victoria wore a white gown designed by the Swede Pär Engsheden, the Camelia Diadem and a wedding bouquet of 14 kinds of flowers with lilies, roses and a bridal wreath.

After the wedding ceremony the married Royal couple went with a cortege through Stockholm to greet the cheering crowds. The couple went in the Royal Carriage, the same carriage as her parents King Karl XVI and Queen Silvia used in 1976.

Finally, the couple arrived at the Castle terrace where many prominent guests awaited them. On the terrace Crown Princess Victoria gave a speech to the people.

“I would first like to thank the Swedish people for having given me my prince.
We, my husband and I are, so incredibly happy and very grateful that so many want to be here and celebrate with us. "

What's it like to be in Prince Daniel's shoes on this day?

[Visitor, Australia]:
“A normal man on his marriage would be very, very nervous. Daniel marrying, being a normal person marrying to... Sweden. Actually it is marrying to a country as such.  Would be very very, be extremely difficult.”

And from now on his title is his Royal Highness Prince Daniel, The Duke of Västergötland.

”I hope it lasts forever.”
