Fashion Meets Art at the Louvre
On Tuesday, for one night only, the masterpieces of the Louvre in Paris, shared their home with the latest collection by Italian designer Salvatore Ferragamo.
The Denon wing of the museum is usually home to celebrated works including the Mona Lisa, but Ferragamo brushed shoulders with Da Vinci as the fashion world took over one of the many walkways which look out on the famous Pyramid.
The show drew a number of A-list stars with Slumdog Millionaire star Freida Pinto sat next to actresses Leighton Meester and Hilary Swank on the front row.
Pinto said the fact that it made sense for the world of fashion to be invited into the world-famous museum.
[Freida Pinto, Actress, Slumdog Millionaire Star]:
"Fashion's art and art's art and I guess it's a great combination.”
The collection itself was demure with pastels and creams complementing the elegance of the historic surroundings.
There was very little flesh on display with knee-length skirts paired with knee-length patterned boots.
Flat and heeled varieties of patterned boots were a stand-out feature of the show -- appropriate for a label whose origins are in footwear.
