Women take to the streets of Kabul, protesting against the recent public execution of an Afghan woman accused of adultery.

The woman was repeatedly shot by a gunman as around 150 men from a village north of Kabul watched.

Protesters called for those responsible to be brought to justice.

[Wajma Forogh, Protester]:
"Afghan government, have to be accountable for that and we as citizens are accounting that accountability and demanding that accountability."

Authorities in Kabul have directly blamed the Taliban for the killing, but the Islamist group's denied involvement.

Violence against women has increased sharply this year according to Afghanistan's independent human rights commission.
