In 2003, Asian-American Charles Li visited China in an effort to communicate the world’s Falun Dafa supporters’ appeal for an end to the state-oriented persecution against the spiritual practice.

When he landed, he was arrested, detained for three years, and subjected to numerous methods of persecution.

[Charles Li, Persecuted American Falun Gong Practitioner]:
"They forced me to attend the brain washing sessions, and also they forced me to do the slave labor. If I refuse to attend the brain washing session, they would beat me. And I understand that people in China, they have been suffering for 60 years already from this kind of extremely brutal and inhumane regime. I’ll never give up."

The upcoming July 20th will mark ten years of the persecution.

Falun Gong practitioners have been subjected to state-oriented suppression under the Chinese communist regime.

As of date, over 3,200 cases have resulted in death.

[Erping Zhang, Falun Gong Volunteer Spokesepeson]:
"Millions of people in China are suffering because of their personal belief, so we hope that the world will speak up and help us end the persecution."

Today, Charles Li is not alone with his purpose. Numerous people travel around the world to stand on the rainy streets of New York City before the United Nations.

[Thomas Pompe, Falun Gong Practitioner from Sweden]:
"It has really hurt my heart to daily read very terrible news on the web, of how Faun Gong practitioners in China are persecuted."

Supporters of Falun Gong hope that through their efforts in exposing state suppression, people will come to realize the urgency of the issue.
