Actor Peter O'Toole, awarded an Honorary Academy Award in 2003 for his body of work, turned 80 today.

The octogenarian has been nominated for eight Academy Awards for Best Actor in a Leading Role, but never won. The streak began with "Lawrence of Arabia," in 1962.

The star of "Lion in Winter" is no such thing; his most recent nomination was in 2006 for "Venus."

Along with the Honorary Oscar, O'Toole has won four Golden Globes, an Emmy, and a BAFTA award as well.

The Irishman is currently working on his third memoir.
