U.S. presidential candidates Barack Obama and Mitt Romney go toe-to-toe in a new paper doll book.

Collectors can dress the men up in 16 different costumes ranging from battling robots to gladiators.

Dover Publications Vice President Ken Katzman says the looks are based on American pop culture.

[Ken Katzman, Dover Publications, Vice President]:
"We have them as boxers, them as jousting knights, them as even sumo wrestlers. So a lot of different costumes battling robots, that you know, people just recognize as fun, kind of pop culture things.”

The book is the company's follow-up to their successful 2008 editions, which featured separate books for Obama and John McCain.

[Ken Katzman, Dover Publications, Vice President]:
"People want a fun unique collectible for an election. And actually back in '08 we did two books, one for candidate Obama, one for candidate McCain and they did great, we sold over 100,000 copies. So for the 2012 edition we put both candidates together. You know, politics is rough and tumble, people want something humorous and different so we came up with these fun costumes to put together with the candidate's dolls, and we think people are going to love it.”

Each candidate is outfitted in their underwear - boxers and a t-shirt -which Katzman says is a paper doll tradition.

Recently the Obama administration requested several of the paper doll books to use as gifts, suggesting that the novel collectibles even have the endorsement of the White House.
