As the 2012 London Games came to a close, Casa Brasil threw a party to mark the transition of Olympic host from London to Rio de Janeiro.
After watching the closing ceremony, in which performances by the Spice Girls gave way to legendary futboller Pelé and a street samba, the crowds at the converted Somerset House began to celebrate.
[Bruno from Sao Paolo]:
"Brazilian people have been waiting a long time for this, since the city was elected an Olympic host city, everyone is waiting anxiously for this Olympic Games."
Like the Brazil portion of the closing ceremony, Casa Brasil gave London a taste of what could come in 2016.
[Calini from Southern Brazil]:
"I think it will be marvellous, like it was here. I'll be there for sure, Rio 2016 will certainly be a spectacle."
Rio has a lot to prepare for. In addition to the Olympic games, the World Cup will also come to the South American city in 2014. It’s a daunting task, but one that these Brazilians, fresh off the excitement of the London games, are ready for.
[Victor from Sao Paolo]:
"Now the party will be at home, the world will know what samba is."
