Shen Yun Performing Arts continues its April 2012 shows at Lincoln Center in New York.
Countess Nicholas Bobrinskoy, whose late husband was a descendent of Catherine the Great, gave NTD her thoughts on Shen Yun after seeing it for a second time.
[Countess Nicholas Bobrinskoy]:
"The first time I just looked at the movements, the second time I see the pain. I see the history. I see the suffering that goes in there, expressed in those movements..."
"You see the battle of the evil and the good. And I know that the good will eventually win."
The Countess says Shen Yun reminds her of her own Russian heritage.
[Countess Nicholas Bobrinskoy]:
"I have never lived in Russia because I wouldn't have lived. It's exactly the same thing as in today's China. It's my second time at Shen Yun and I'm beginning to understand it. Because the first time you're just flabbergasted by the beauty of the dance, but you do not understand it. Now, I'm beginning to. And I'm also kind of correlating it with the ancient Russian art, which has been destroyed also.
The Countess's background gave her insight into classical Chinese dance.
[Countess Nicholas Bobrinskoy]:
"I watch with a very critical eye because I studied ballet, so I know what it entails. And what I see, I just can't believe it."
Shen Yun Performing Arts will continue to at Lincoln Center through Sunday night.
